The market has responded accordingly. According to the FCRF Q4 2025 Index, pink diamonds have appreciated approximately 391% since 2005 — the strongest performance of any fancy color category. Within this segment, diamonds of two carats and above, particularly those graded Fancy Intense and Fancy Vivid, have demonstrated the most pronounced outperformance. The interplay between color saturation and carat weight is critical: a one-carat Fancy Vivid pink will command a materially different price trajectory than a half-carat Fancy Light.

For the patient, strategic investor, pink diamonds represent what I consider the most compelling supply-demand positions in tangible assets. The supply is permanently constrained. The demand continues to grow.

Blue Diamonds: Rarity at Its Most Absolute

If pink diamonds are rare, blue diamonds are rarer still. Natural blue diamonds derive their color from the presence of boron during formation — a geological circumstance so uncommon that blue diamonds have always represented an exceptionally thin slice of the fancy color market.

The FCRF Q4 2025 data shows blue diamonds have appreciated approximately 242% since 2005. Notably, blue diamonds were the only color to post a positive quarter in Q4 2025, demonstrating renewed momentum and market confidence in this segment. For collectors and investors who appreciate absolute rarity, blue diamonds offer a compelling proposition.

The Hope Diamond — perhaps the most famous gemstone in history — serves as an enduring cultural testament to the timeless allure and value of blue diamonds. While museum pieces are not market comparable, the cultural capital associated with blue diamonds reinforces their desirability among the world's most discerning collectors and investors.
